Struggling to grow your email list? We’re with you, growing an engaging email list can be quite a challenge. That’s why our team of email marketing experts and digital marketing nerds put our heads together to give you our top tips for effectively growing your email list. Let’s get to work!
There are, of course, a wide variety of ways to grow your email list, but the Lead Revenue team finds the following techniques to be the most successful:
1. Add Sign-Up Forms to Your Website
If a person is on your website, it means they are interested in your products or services. In other words, they are the perfect candidate to sign up for your marketing list.
If you want them to take the plunge and give you their email address, you will need to make the sign-up process as easy as possible. Do not force them to trawl through your site to find a form. Add one to every page.
When creating your form, remember to keep it short and sweet. Try to include as few fields as possible, this will further encourage the user to fully complete the form. Fields such as date of birth or home address may be unnecessary information. All you really need is their full name and email address.
2.Encourage People to Join Your Email List in Your Store
Sometimes, the most effective way to convince a person to join your email list is by asking them in person.
Typically, the most opportune time to request a customer’s email address is during the checkout process. Simply instruct your staff to ask people if they’d like to sign up for your newsletter while they’re ringing up their items. You can even offer a 10 percent discount to those who join the list as an added incentive.
If you want to take your in-store sign-ups to the next level, you may also want to consider setting up a booth and offering free products or entry into a competition in exchange for an email.
3. Add a Sign-Up Link to Employee Email Signatures
Your employees send hundreds of emails each and every week. Why not use those interactions to promote your newsletter?
You shouldn’t have your team badger people to join your list, of course. However, you could add a sign-up link to your employees’ email signatures, right alongside your address, phone number, and other important info.
Many people will see your link and sign up immediately. Others may have some questions about the newsletter before they take the plunge, so make sure you arm your employees with all the necessary info before you edit their signatures.
4. Create a Free Resource That Requires an Email to Access
Some people will be hesitant to join your email list unless they get something in return.
One of the best ways to reach these people is to build a free resource or tool that requires them to input their email addresses to gain access. The following assets tend to be among the most enticing:
- Detailed industry reports
- Informative seminars
- How-to guides and E-Books
- Helpful software
Of course, building a resource is only half the battle. You’ll also need to promote it to the public. We recommend using a combination of search engine optimization and social media marketing to reach your target market.
